Manuel, Fuentes net WJCAC baseball honors

Ty Manuel of Odessa College and Caven Fuentes of Western Texas College have been named the Western Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week.

A redshirt freshman from Cypress, Texas, Manual is the WJCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. He turned in a sensational effort en route to guiding the Chaps to an extra-innings win. In the game, he tossed a complete-game shutout and faced just 2 batters over the minimum while needing only 85 pitches. He fanned 6 batters and did not issue a walk while allowing two hits in 8 innings.

A sophomore first baseman from Katy, Texas, Fuentes was named the WJCAC Baseball Position Player of the Week. Overall, he batted .588 with 6 doubles, a home run and 8 RBI. He also scored 7 runs and drew 3 walks
