Marquez, Figueroa claim WJCAC Baseball accolades

Franco Marquez of Western Texas College and Rylan Figueroa of Odessa College were named the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week.

A freshman catcher from Lewisville, Texas, Marquez is the WJCAC Baseball Position Player of the Week. Overall, he batted .563 for the week with 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 13 RBI. He also scored 8 runs, drew 3 walks and had 2 stolen bases.

A red-shirt sophomore from Midlothian, Texas, Figueroa is the WJCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. He turned in a brilliant performance last week against Howard College. En route to picking up a win, he limited the Hawks to just 1 hit over 6.1 innings of work. He allowed just two earned runs and posted a WHIP of 0.63. He finished with 8 strikeouts and just 3 walks.
